See the Green – Launch

‘See the Green?’ opened this week in Aberdeen’s The Green. I designed vinyls and banners to go in various locations around The Green using local children’s poems about the area. The installations will be up until the end of June.

Leafing The Green

Over the last few weeks I have been working with writer Raman Mundair on a project based in Aberdeen’s The Green, it’s been a busy few weeks but a 6 week installation of poetry written by children of several of Aberdeen’s primary schools and designed by myself will be launched on the 17th May. Here’s the logo I designed for the project, will post new pictures of the installations in a few weeks! Very exciting, but so much work to do!

Something To Celebrate Commission

Over the last 2 weeks I have been working on a commission for a book cover for a book of short stories written by teenagers from Aberdeen-Shire funded by Words First and Aberdeen City Council. Here’s the final design, can’t wait to see what it looks like once it’s printed!

Next project is creating a website for The Green….

New illustrations!

finally I have got round to making some new illustrations. These two are for a competition, the illustration of the owl is completely unlike my usual style and it took many hours but I think it was worth it. Inspired by Johanna Basford’s beautiful black and white illustrations, but not nearly as intricate! The librarian illustration’s style is done in the style I adopted in 4th year at Gray’s School of Art.

I have been asked to do some work for a summer exhibition at Touched By Scotland. What style to go for though? Black & white linear illustrations or colourful collages?!

About time Mr Postie

Just received my final Christmas present due to Mr Postie not doing his job right… absolutely delighted, Cath Kidston’s (aka the craft godmother) book ‘Sew’. Perfect for getting some sewing projects on the go as it’s started snowing again :D Thanks muchos my lil Ali in the big smoke!

Nautical Mugs

I went to Dab Hands Ceramics before Christmas and made a hand painted mug with an anchor on it, was pretty pleased with how it turned out, except for the slightly messy outlines, I would recommend Dab Hands to anyone that lives in Aberdeen, the staff are lovely and the outcome of the ceramics turn out beautiful, most the time!

Tea Cosy

Had a stall at last week’s Tea Cosy and the turn out was fantastic! Thanks to everyone that trudged out in the snow to come to the Rosemount Community Centre! (And thanks to my helpers Louise and Ryan, oh and Clare for lending me her gorgeous cake stand!)
